Our most exciting news as we start the new year is our Transition Center’s implementation of  a Self-Sufficiency program to help former foster children get job-readiness and job-skills training and find a steady job.  Mary Montelongo, our new Workforce Advocate, will head the program, working closely with the local Workforce Development Board, a variety of local businesses, Howard College, and other community resources.  The program is just getting under way, but promises to be of great value to these young people as they transition from dependency to adult life on their own. Mary can be contacted at 325-655-3821 (office) or 325-234-6040 (cell).

The sixth annual Concho Valley Bluegrass Festival is coming up April 13 and 14, which sounds like a long time away but really isn’t.  For details on times and bands, see the festival page on this website.  And if you’d like to volunteer to work at the event, or want to contribute a raffle item, call Sammye at 655-3821.  Hope to see you in April!
