Since 1973, the Concho Valley Home for Girls has been a sanctuary for young girls from troubled homes, offering them a chance to heal, grow, and build a brighter future.
Located in the heart of the Concho Valley, our mission is to provide a stable, nurturing, and supportive environment where girls can overcome the challenges of their past and develop the skills they need to thrive.
Our program serves girls between the ages of 11 to 17, providing them with a safe and structured residential environment. At Concho Valley Home for Girls, we believe in the power of community and family-like support.
Our girls live in small, home-like settings with staff who serve as their “house parents,” offering guidance, care, and mentorship. Each home accommodates up to six girls, creating a close-knit community where the values of respect, discipline, and responsibility are instilled daily.
Our Christian-based homes emphasize moral development and personal growth. We use a level system to teach our girls the importance of making positive choices, with privileges awarded for good behavior and consequences for actions that do not align with our values.
This system encourages our girls to take responsibility for their actions and helps them learn from their mistakes, fostering a sense of accountability and self-discipline.
Education is a cornerstone of our program. Our girls attend public school at San Angelo ISD, where they are encouraged to excel academically and participate in extracurricular activities that align with their interests.
Whether it’s horseback riding, 4-H, FFA, or our summer work program, we provide our girls with opportunities to explore their passions, develop new skills, and build self-confidence. We celebrate their successes and stand by them when they face challenges, helping them find the resilience to try again.
In 2010, we expanded our services with the establishment of the Transition Center, a program designed to support male and female current and former foster youth aged 16-26.
The Transition Center provides critical resources, including advice, emotional support, referrals to community programs, and assistance with housing, education, and employment.
Through our partnership with the Texas Workforce Commission, we help young adults access job training, secure employment, and gain the independence they need to build a stable future.
At Concho Valley Home for Girls and the Transition Center, our commitment is to every child and young adult who walks through our doors, offering them hope, support, and the tools they need to succeed.
